OBTAINING A GOLF HANDICAP

The following applies to all junior members of Farrington Golf and Country Club wishing to obtain a golf handicap

9 Hole Executive Course Handicap

A junior must submit three (3) separate score cards for the 9 Hole Course, played from the back tees on the 1st and 9th holes, each of which must be correctly and clearly completed and signed by a person acceptable to the Club Committee who completed the round of golf with them.

 An acceptable person can be:

A - A member over the age of 14 holding a recognised CONGU handicap for the main course

B - A person over the age of 14 holding a CONGU handicap from another golf course

C - Another junior member already holding a 9 hole handicap and playing together in an official junior qualifying competition

At all times the Club reserves the right before issuing a handicap to request the junior member to play a round of golf with the Junior Organiser or their nominated representative to assess their standard

 Alterations to a Handicap

Handicaps may be adjusted by submitting a correctly completed, signed score card after playing in a junior competition

Progression to a Main Course (18 Hole) Handicap

 A junior must:

1 - Obtain a handicap on the 9 hole executive course

2 - Improve their handicap to 21 or below on the 9 hole executive course

3 - After reaching 21 or below, play to that handicap or better whilst in a junior competition on 3 separate occasions

4 - Following the above play a round of golf on the 18 hole course with the Junior Organiser or his nominated representative to a standard of 110 shots or better and pass a rules, etiquette and course management test

5 - Submit three (3) separate score cards on the 18 hole course each of which to be signed by a person acceptable to the Club Committee (defined as above)

 Alterations to a Handicap

Handicaps may be adjusted by submitting a clearly and correctly completed, signed score card after playing in a junior or main club competition

Note: When a player with an 18 hole handicap plays in a competition on the 9 hole course the handicap will be reduced to ¾ of that handicap and the result from that competition will not count for any handicap adjustment
