FARRINGTON WIN FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Farrington juniors rounded off a tremendously successful year by winning the overall Somerset 2009 play off finals. Farrington defeated Burnham
& Berrow and Windwhistle in a play off final held at Weston Super Mare in atrocious conditions. The team after winning the Northern area
league then had to play against the winners of the Central and Southern area leagues to determine the overall best team in Somerset for the
2009 year. In conditions that at times were almost impossible to stand up, let alone play golf, Farrington were able to hold it together to
win by two points from the other two and for the third consecutive year win the Somerset best junior club prize.

Juniors V Men 2009 (12th Hole Trophy)

Played in great weather on Easter Saturday the Juniors battled well to defeat a very strong men's team 10-8 in the annual 36 hole event. Played in Ryder cup format the Juniors won the opening morning greensomes by 3.5 to 2.5 and in the afternoon singles won by 6.5 to 5.5. Tony Waldren presented junior captain Stefan Golledge with the 12th Hole Trophy. As always the match was played very competitively but in a great spirit, with the men commenting as to how well the juniors played as a team.

Somerest Junior Champions

Sunday 1st March we played Vivary and Mendip Spring in the League playoff finals at Taunton Vale and we won.
The format was 4-ball better ball stableford off 3/4 handicap. Our team with the pairings of Stefan Golledge & Alex Todd, George Hobbs & Sam Collard, Chris Coles & Josh Hilleard and Will Hobbs & James Abbott scored 159 points beating Vivary who scored 139 points and Mendip Spring who scored 138 points.
Played in very bright but windy conditions Taunton Vale provided quite a different challenge for the boys as the greens were playing exceptionally hard and quick, very different to what we have been used to recently at Farrington. Nevertheless as the score suggests they all rose to the challenge exceptionally well.

Very well done to those that played and well done to everyone that played in the team during the year.
